Objective

The System Summary page on the WAP551 and WAP561 displays basic hardware and software information. This page also helps to view basic information about the services operated by the access point and the protocol that the service uses on the WAP551 and WAP561.

This article helps to view the system summary status and the network statistics status on the Cisco WAP551 and WAP561 access points.

Applicable Devices

• WAP551
• WAP561

Software Version

• v1.0.4.2

System Summary Status

Step 1. Log in to the web configuration utility and choose Status and Statistics > System Summary. The System Summary page opens:

The following information is displayed under the System Summary area:

• PID VID — Displays the product ID (PID) and version ID (VID) of the access point.

• Serial Number — Displays the serial number of the access point.

• Base MAC Address — Displays the MAC address of the access point.

• Firmware Version (Active Image) — Displays the version of the firmware presently in use on the access point.

Note: WAP551 and WAP561 maintains two firmware images. One of this is active at a time. If the active one fails during bootup, the other image is loaded and becomes active.

• Firmware MD5 Checksum (Active Image) — Displays the Message Digest5 (MD5) check sum of the firmware presently in use. This checksum is the hash value that is created after the firmware upgrade finishes. This is created to check with the checksum hash value provided by the website from which the firmware was downloaded. If the hash values match, it means that the firmware was downloaded successfully. This also helps to verify the integrity of the firmware.

• Firmware version(Non-active) — The firmware version number of the backup image saved.

• Firmware MD5 Checksum (Non-Active) — The checksum for the backup image saved is the WAP. This field will show ERROR! if there is no saved backup image on the WAP.

• Host Name — Displays the host name assigned to the device.

• System Uptime — Displays the time in days, hours and minutes the access point has been in continuous operation since the last reboot.

• System Time — Displays the current system time.

Network Statistics Status

The System Summary page helps to view the TCP/UDP Service table which shows network statistics:

The TCP/UDP Service table displays some basic information about the protocols and services that operate on the WAP. The table contains the following fields:

• Service — The name of the service whose information is displayed

• Protocol — The transport layer protocol that the service uses.

• Local IP Address — The IP address of a remote device to which the service connects this WAP. All signifies that any IP address on the device can use this service.

• Local Port  — The port number of the WAP the service is assigned.

• Remote IP address — Shows the IP address of a remote host, if in use. The value, All, signifies that all remote hosts in that network can use the service.

• Remote Port — Port number of any remote device in communication with this service.

• Connection State — The current state of the Service. For UDP this state is displayed only as Active state. The state is then said to be Established. TCP may have one of the following states:

– Listening — In wait to detect connection request.

– Established — Connection has been established.

– Active — Connection established and packets exchanges are in progress.

– Time Wait — In wait for timeout period to elapse after closing sequence is initiated for a connection.
